    • Yes, Ray. This is a blog. This is a great place for bee friendly folks to share their stories. Feel free to add any of your own stories of being a beekeeper to get the association started. Steve is still deciding what his first story shall be:-)

  2. Today was a good day. Temps were in the 50’s and it was good to see the girls flying.Checked all the hives and found all but one made it through the Winter so far. I added pollen substitute and some 1:1 sugar water. Several of the hives were a bit light so I will need to get them some more feed soon.

The one hive that did not make it had a large population and plenty of stored food (approx. 50 lbs capped honey/sugar water). I took a sample of bees and sent them to the bee lab in Maryland for analysis. They will advise if they find any disease. Best part..there is no charge. I will update more about the results. Recommend using the bee lab if you have any question about the health of you bees.

  3. Just mailed check for beekeeping school.
By the way………… Ray, your president was very helpful on the phone the other day. Very pleasant, very informative. I’m thinking about jumping into this hobby. I don’t know jack about bees, so we’ll see what happens.
    Thanks Ray!
